Scotty Nguyen was born on October 28 in 1962. He was born in Nha Trang, Vietnam.

Nguyen played and dealt poker in his early 20s in the cardrooms of Southern California.

From 1988-to 1989 he started playing small poker games in Las Vegas. He made his first major cash in at the World Series of Poker in 1995. He is fondly called ‘The Prince’ in the world of poker.

Scotty is a Vietnamese professional Poker Player. He won the World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelet 5 times. He is known for the 1998 World Series of Poker Main Event and the 2008 WSOP $50,000 H.O.R.S.E. World Championship.

He began playing poker with, Puggy Pearson, David Grey, and Johnny Chan.

In 1997 he won the $2,000 Omaha 8 World Series of Poker or Better event, making a profit of above $150,000. Nguyen busted this bankroll and was completely broke before the 1998 WSOP. Nguyen had to play a small satellite tournament. He did not have enough money to buy in. Mike Matusow decided to chip in 1/3 bankroll of the buy-in.

Nguyen is known as an emotional player. He won the 1998 World Series of Poker and shared 1/3 of the money ($333,333) with Matusow.
